The Star View Room
3,194 square feet on the second floor of the north building. Windows on three walls, skylights over the middle, original wood plank floors and nine heavy timber posts.

The room as it stands
Daylight is the thing you’re booking.
Glazing runs along three walls, with skylights over the north-center, so the room is lit without the overheads on for most of the working day. The floors are the original plank. The brick is the original brick. Nothing has been dressed up to look old, because it isn’t.

The conference corner and the lounge corner are permanent and stay where they are in every layout. Everything else moves.

45 is the ceiling for the room, in any configuration. Ask and we’ll walk you through which layout suits the session. A 30-person training and a 30-person reception want the floor arranged very differently.

In the room, in the rate

- A permanent lounge corner — sofa, armchairs and a glass table
- A large screen on a rolling cart, so the front of the room is wherever you need it

- A chalkboard painted directly on the brick
- Guest wifi on its own network name
On power: the eight seats at the conference table have outlets coming up through the tabletop. The classroom and U-shape setups run off folding tables, which have none. If your session needs everyone plugged in all day, say so when you enquire and we’ll say whether the room fits.
Getting in, and out again
- Free parking in the building’s own lot, out front
- Restrooms on the same floor as the room
- Accessible restrooms on the first floor
- A 4,500 lb freight elevator on the first floor — nothing has to be carried up
Not here, on purpose
- No kitchen
- No bar
- No in-house catering
- No event staff
Bring your own caterer. Set the room up the way you need it. Pay for the room and nothing else.
Why it’s called that
The Star sits in the south windows.
After dark the Mill Mountain Star comes up on the hillside directly in line with the south glass, over the brick parapet of the building across the yard, the one still carrying the Continental Can ghost sign. You can see both from inside the room without moving.
It is the best thing about a 5pm booking in November, and it is the reason the room has the name it has.

Meetings and workshops from $95/hr · Video & Production from $110/hr · Events and parties from $175/hr, and $210/hr on weekend evenings with a six-hour minimum · 10% off at eight hours or more. Cleaning is inside every rate — there is no cleaning fee.
